Every-body wants that right?
I thought I might share with you some of those golden nuggets I mentioned earlier that have changed my life. Years ago my body battled with an acute and severe case of urticaria, commonly called hives. When I say severe, I’m talking urgently reaching for the hairbrush to relieve my itchy skin. As I write this I cannot find the words that sufficiently describe how bad it was. For years I was on a constant quest to find answers and remedies. Specialists and Naturopaths alike failed me.
My Quest
I had no choice but to investigate and research myself. After all it was my body and no one knew my body as well as me. The first thing I did and still do to this day when I feel its needed is, review my body. Take my body through a screening, if you will, and really analyze my lifestyle choices from diet to physical activity and any other factor that may contribute to my overall and in this case specific health. To not bore you with too much detail, I came out of my personal analysis in poor health. I decided on my own conclusion that my hives were a manifestation of massive amounts of toxins throughout my body. The toxins were so internal that each time a doctor or pharmacist mentioned the aid of topical creams I laughed in their face, thinking you know nothing of my dilemma. I was faced with the reality that I was in the hands of the detoxification gods but for the first time I felt real hope which I had not had for so long.
My Tips for a Healthy Body
EAT PLANT BASED
My first tip for a healthy body is to appreciate the beauty of the earth. Nothing for me beats raw food nutrition. I was always a great veggie eater. I can not recall a time when my mum was nagging at me to eat my vegetables. So whatever veggie takes your fancy. Relish it! Honestly who could possibly resist a big fresh garden salad with the yummiest dressing you can imagine. How long has it been since you had that? At least one of my daily meals is a big bowl of my favourite vegetables topped with my favourite home made dressing. ( I pride myself on my dressing ).
Something that has become glaringly obvious to me is how few people these days consume fresh raw fruit. The nutrients in fruit is truly enlightening. For instance a banana, which happens to be my all time favourite fruit is so rich is vitamins and minerals that it would surprise you. They are one of the first fruits classed as a superfood. In my experience, fruit first thing in the morning has proven the best time to benefit from its nutrients. I have learned that as fruit needs no extra energy to digest and metabolise, it needs to be eaten on an empty stomach away from any cooked food in order for it to pass through unhindered. This way we benefit from all the nutrients it gives not to mention the energy as a direct result. If you are wanting to increase your health and can get your hands on them, the benefits of oganic fruits and vegetables are where it’s at!
MOVE YOUR BODY
The level of intensity of this tip will vary from individual to individual. But the point is ‘move your body’. If you find you would rather put bamboo into your fingernails than get uncomfortably sweaty and breathe a little harder just hear me out. I struggle to get into high intensity exersise BUT I know how beneficial it is to do at least something. A walk, a quick 10 minute core workout or some intervals of pilates throughout the day. These have been particularly productive to me. Pilates is one of those exersise niches that is honestly, so enjoyable. To lay on your back and just feel parts of your body and move and stretch in your own time is so satisfying. You will have such sense of control. If you have not tapped into this genre of exersise, please hear me now when I say you will love it.
Another movement that I believe is extremely beneficial to our bodies is rebounding, or mini trampolining. These are inexpensive and can be used by almost anyone at any age. By bouncing up and down on a rebounder, you activate your lymph flow. The lymphatic system actually relies on our physical activity to pump the huge amounts of fluid through our vessels, glands etc. Once the lymphatic system is flowing freely and draining toxins out of our bodies we will be in optimal position to heal and function productively. Even a light bounce is enough to wake up the stagnant lymph fluid at our lower extremeties of our bodies and send it upward and back into our circular system. Just 30 minutes, 10 minutes at a time throuhout the day is enough to get things moving beautifully.
CONNECT WITH PEOPLE
People you love
I will be honest I have come to love my ‘me time’. But I know how important it is to spend time with people who I love and who love me. Of course this is all dependant upon ones current situation and circumstance. I know that as a young mother with little children and the high demand they hold, I had a greater need for some adult conversation. Just to remember that I myself was an adult. If you can work it out practically, connect with someone yeah?
The two greatest needs, I believe are to love, and to be loved. Nobody ultimately wins from lapping up huge doses of love without having the urge to love back. And that in itself is pure beauty. Being loved on by someone and in turn loving on someone. This certainly puts some perspective on priorities in our lives.
Like minded people
Time with like minded people resets you and gives you a new energy. It allows you to vent your views in a setting that you can trust. Like minded friends might take years and sometimes decades to find and even then some may never have the privelege of this blessing. I am fortunate enough to have this in a few people and I am so grateful for them.
ONE LOYAL FRIEND IS BETTER THAN THOUSAND FAKE FRIENDS
That’s it for now from me. I really hope this somehow resonates with something in you to motivate you in the happy healthy direction. At the least I hope you have gained a new appreciation for yourself and how important you are. There are few people in this world who are not loved and therefore mean something to someone. Make it worth it . Do something, however small for yourself today. A walk, a date with a friend, anything that you know you need. You know yourself better than anyone. It’s time to treat yourself better. That’s an order!
Have yourself a glorious day!
